Vinyl flooring options for home

A typical household with a family of four or more is always bustling with activity. We constantly have our feet or shoes on the floor and running from one room to another. From morning to evening someone or the other keeps walking on the floor. For a household like this it is essential to have flooring that is versatile and long lasting. Vinyl flooring proves to be an extremely versatile option which takes low maintenance and also looks very attractive. The modern designs in this option are plenty and you even get vinyl flooring tiles that resemble marble and granite.

Using vinyl planks for flooring
Vinyl planks are rich in color and resemble exactly like wood. Most people who look at these planks mistake it for wood. It is low maintenance because it is water proofed. It fits well into moisture prone areas like under the kitchen sink and near the garden hose and so on. Wooden flooring cannot be laid in places that are close to the bathroom and basements. Vinyl flooring has no such restrictions. It is also warm and can be installed through a do it yourself project as well. It does not require traditional flooring products such as adhesives to be installed.

Vinyl tiles and vinyl sheets
People get confused when they are presented with the options of vinyl tiles and vinyl sheets together. These are nothing but two basic types of flooring available in vinyl material. Choosing the type of flooring depends on what you want. If you want heavy patterns on your flooring then vinyl sheet is a much better option. If you like the traditional checkerboard pattern then the tiles is a good option. Vinyl sheets typically come in huge rolls. They have a felt back and needs to be installed by a professional for durability. Each type of vinyl is designed in such a way that the installment requirements are different.

Choosing vinyl patterns
Other than offering comfort and quality vinyl floorings also come in beautiful and attractive designs. You will be presented with so many choices that choosing a design becomes very difficult. However there are two basic patterns in which vinyl flooring is designed. One if the inlaid pattern and the other is the printed pattern

Printed patterns have intricate designs of many varieties. The patterns are printed on to the vinyl sheet directly to the surface once it is laid. The pattern is further covered with a protective sheet. The protective sheet ensures that the pattern stays for a long time without being damaged by water and floor spills. It is not only the patterns that differ but they come in several colors as well. However the only limitation is that printed vinyl is not as durable as the other type of vinyl.

Inlaid vinyl is also a type of pattern laying. The patterns are injected into the vinyl flooring after laying it out. The patterns and vinyl sheets are fused together and the pattern finally merges becoming a part of the vinyl sheet.
